Service Fleets

Whether you manager a small, medium, or large service fleet, you’ll find that cost reduction and customer service are inextricably linked. While you’re trying to figure out how to reduce operating expenses, fuel costs keep soaring and customers keep demanding faster and more efficient services. So, what’s a service fleet manager to do?

Our customers tell us that one of the best ways to reduce fuel consumption is by increasing their visibility into fleet activity and driver behavior. A Webtech Wireless solution provides that visibility through its end-to-end AVL (automated vehicle location) solution. By knowing where your vehicles are and being able to report on fuel usage, CO2 emissions, distances driven, odometer, and idle time, you can optimize your fleet. By knowing where your vehicles are also enables you to tell your customers exactly when an expected vehicle is due to arrive or to re-allocate a nearby vehicle to a location where it’s most needed.

Streamline Dispatch

If your fleet needs multiple-destination routing, consider a job management integration using Garmin® personal navigation devices. Alone, Garmin cannot accept dispatch and send directions from your Dispatch office (your drivers would have to enter that information themselves), but with a Webtech Wireless job management solution, dispatch can assign destinations to individual drivers and receive receipt of job instructions and job status updates back at the office.

Drivers, equipped with Garmin devices, receive new dispatches complete with turn-by-turn visual and voice instructions and optimal routing provided by Garmin’s ecoRoute™ capability. The Quadrant/Garmin integration enables drivers to receive instructions without needing cell phones or even map books, allowing them to focus on their most important duty—driving.

“Having a comprehensive GSP system allows us to instantly locate units and plan for dispatch of those resources.”

Improve Safety

Many companies are also concerned about increasing liability issues with the operation of their fleet. Fleet managers sometimes find themselves having to prove where their vehicles are or are not. Either way, if a traffic accident involving one of your fleet vehicles occurs, vehicle location data can be used in legal proceedings as proof of your vehicle’s location.

“As the number of cases of corporate liability increase, it’s important to know that our employees are using our vehicles responsibly.”
